You exfoliate your body and face, but do you ever exfoliate your lips? They need some love too. I love using a scrub on my lips. Back in the day, I was told to use a toothbrush on my lips to exfoliate them. Yes, brushing your lips with a toothbrush will definitely get dry skin off your lips, but in such a harsh manner. I prefer a gentler approach. Here’s the recipe for my go-to organic argan oil lip scrub.
- 1.5 tbs. organic fine grain white sugar
- 1/2 tsp. organic raw honey
- 1/2 tsp. organic shea butter
- 1/2 tsp. organic argan oil
- 2 drops organic lavender essential oil and/or organic peppermint essential oil – See list below for essential oil suppliers.
Melt the organic shea butter in a pyrex measuring cup in a double boiler on a very low heat. It will melt quickly since it’s such a small amount, so be sure to keep your eye on it. Add all the ingredients, except the essential oil, and continue heating on low heat. Once everything has melted, remove it from heat. Let it sit for a minute or so and add the essential oils. Store in a glass jar and label. Once the shea butter has solidified, the scrub is ready to use. You can speed up the process by putting the container in the fridge. This recipe will keep for quite a few months. Be sure to put the date you created your sugar scrub.
If you want a thinner or thicker consistency, either add more sugar or organic argan oil. If you have any questions, let me know.
