Sugar scrubs are outstanding to exfoliate the skin. There are different types and grain sizes of sugar, so choose what you like best. If you want a thicker consistency, add more sugar. If you want a thinner consistency, use a finer grain sugar. Play around with the recipe and experiment with different essential oils. Use an oil or oils that your skin needs. If you have really dry skin, you can use carrot seed oil. If you want something to tackle acne, then throw some tea tree oil in your scrub. The possibilities are endless.
Ingredients & Supplies
- 1/2 cup carrier oil of your choice (ig. organic argan oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, etc.)
- 1/2 cup organic cane sugar
- 6-10 drops genuine and authentic essential oil(s) of your choice – I am using lavender and carrot seed oil
- Glass pyrex measuring cup
- Amber glass jar
- Long stainless steel mixing spoon
Mix all of your ingredients in a glass pyrex measuring cup. Transfer to a glass container. Some essential oils are extremely powerful and can eat away at plastic. This is why glass is always recommended. I know this can be tricky in the shower, but it’s the best way to go.
This scrub can last a few months if you’re careful not to get water in it since mold can form quickly in homemade skincare products. I highly doubt it will last that long. When I make scrubs like this, they go pretty quickly since they are so beneficial and effective – especially during the winter months. Always be sure to check your product before each use.
If you experiment and come up with a good sugar scrub, please share it with us. We’d love to hear from you. Enjoy!
Please use caution in the tub/shower since the floor will get slippery from the oil.
